Hey there! Allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Anna and I'm the owner of Heart & Meadow Handmade Soaps. Heart & Meadow pays homage to the two places dearest to me - the vast, rolling fields and endless blue skies of the American Heartland where I was raised, and the softly swishing, sea-bird cradling, rippling waves of reeds that make up the Meadowlands of New Jersey, where I now call home.
These are hearty places. Stunningly beautiful when you catch them in the right light. These lands throughout history have been used and misused, but are somehow still able to support a riot of life and diversity. The Heartland and the Meadowlands are the very essence of strength and resiliency.
Everything I make at Heart and Meadow draws from that strength. In 2022 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, which wildly altered my life's path. I suddenly found the thought of sitting in front of a computer for 10 hours a day generating revenue for faceless investors (as I had for the past 20 years) utterly unbearable. In the midst of trying to figure out what to do with this new reality, I dug out an old bath bomb making kit I'd purchased years before. The results from that first batch were an absolute disaster, but I kept trying. I quickly found that plunging my hands into baking soda, or swirling soap, or meticulously measuring out fragrances and colors was both fun and therapeutic. It didn't take long for me to develop products that were both higher quality and kinder to the lands that have inspired me than their mass-produced counterparts.
I welcome you to come check out some of my creations. I think you'll be pleased. And if you'd just like to drop me a line, or have a question, I welcome that too.
