Today, the demand for tallow in cosmetics has waned, but it remains a byproduct of the meat industry. As long as there is a demand for beef in our food system, there will be beef fat produced as waste. Here at Heart & Meadow, I believe strongly that incorporating tallow into some of my products represents responsible environmental stewardship. During my time working in the culinary industry, I developed the belief that if an animal must be killed to meet the demand for consumption, we are morally obligated to honor their sacrifice by ensuring no part of the animal goes unused. By utilizing tallow, we embrace a philosophy of resourcefulness and respect for nature.

About our Tallow
I source my double-purified tallow locally from Double Brook Farm in Hopewell, NJ.
Double Brook Farm's cows are pasture raised on a 100% grass diet.
